Mekoro Magic

Views: 948 Visited: May 2013 Reviewed: Nov 14, 2013

I was there at the end of the rainy season and there was plenty of game and incredible sightings. If you are out in the remoter lodges you don't see anyone else and it has that air of exclusivity. Make sure you take a mekoro boat trip and let yourself relax as you glide through the waters brushing by water lilies and reeds. Truly magical. read more

Land of Shimmering Images

Views: 770 Visited: Jan 2001 Reviewed: Nov 19, 2013

There is something about Etosha that inspires descriptive text; shimmering mirages over salt pans, herds of springbok daintily tip toeing through the grass, herds of wildebeest dotted on an endless horizon all blended with an air of expectancy. You never know what you’re going to see or experience in Etosha.

I love spending a night out on the salt pans of Botswana, it's an out of this world experience. Nothing really seems real. Imagine spinning around and around and around and the view simply not changing at all, just a white expanse of nothingness. This is what it is like out on Makgadikgadi Pan.

There are a few places in the world where you could describe the view as 'nothing', and the salt pans of Botswana are one of them. There are a numbe... read more

A Sea of Dunes

Views: 704 Visited: Jan 2009 Reviewed: Nov 25, 2013

Sossusvlei is a sea of dunes, there is no other more descriptive word for the area. The first time I visited Sossusvlei I was on a self drive by myself and I had to keep stopping so that my brain could assimilate what I was seeing. The red red dunes of Sossusvlei seemed to stretch for eternity.

The best time to see the dunes is in the very early morning as the sun is rising in order to capture stunning photographs of a sand dune with one si... read more
