11 Days and 10 Nights True Apes Trekking with wildlife and Lake Bunyonyi Tour Package in Uganda

This tour package introduces the traveler to what Uganda has to offer when it comes to primates. The tour starts with a day trip to Ngamba Island purposely for “behind the scene” or chimpanzee close feeding, it carry on to Budongo forest which inhabits over 500 Chimpanzees where you will be amazed by the sounds of the jungle, see how they communicate, swing around tree branches and how they search for food. Kibale Forest has the highest number of primates in Africa – thirteen species in all, including red, black and white colobus, blue monkeys and baboons and a large number of chimpanzees. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Entebbe and transfer to your Hotel

On your arrival at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda you will be welcomed by our representative and transfer to Entebbe Zoo for a glass of fresh juice and introduction about Uganda with some briefings about your package later move around the zoo to find the big fives of savannah that is Elephant, Rhino, Buffaloes, Lions, Leopard and many other animals, Birds and snakes later go to the lodge for dinner and overnight. 

Day 2: Day trip to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary

After breakfast, board the boat to Ngamba Island for a day trip. Ngamba Island is located 23 km offshore from Entebbe. In 1998 it became Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary under Jane Good all Foundation with the objective to provide a safe haven for orphaned chimpanzees that have been rescued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority from poachers or traders, with no chance of survival back to the wild. The day trip allows you to see the island and to view the feeding of the chimpanzees. However, if you wish to take the care giver chimpanzee experience, you will need to spend the night in the eco-lodge. This is offered with an optional supplement. In the evening drive to Kampala, for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer from Kampala to Budongo Forest

After breakfast your adventure proceeds by driving northwest towards Masindi to Budongo Forest. You will stop over for lunch at Kabalega diner, your journey continues to Budongo Forest in Kaniyo-Pabidi, the eco-tourist site where it is possible to organize chimpanzee trekking activities but in the afternoon you will go for an afternoon boat cruise on Murchison falls and a late evening game drive in search for big predators for the park. Dinner and overnight. Full Board

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking in Budongo Forest-Kibale Forest national Park

After breakfast, enter Budongo forest for the chimpanzee trekking. Budongo hosts a population of about 600 chimpanzees and other primates, such as black and white colobus monkey, red-tailed monkey, blue monkey, vervet monkey and baboons. After lunch at Budongo, drive to Kibale forest national park which is known as the primate capital of the world!! Check in at the lodge in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge or Chimp’s nest.

Day 5: Kibale Forest for primates and chimpanzee tracking-Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, prepare for the nature walk in Kibale National Park for experiencing the rain tropical forest, birding and especially to encounter the chimpanzees in their natural environment. Kibale national park with its 766 sq km of rain tropical forest contains the highest primate’s density in the world. Among the species which you can see include black and white colobus, red tailed monkey and vervet monkey. Moreover, 325 species of birds are recorded.

In the afternoon proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which lies between Lake George on the East, Lake Edward on the West and the Rwenzori Mountains on the North. Have a game drive as you enter the park. Overnight and dinner at Mweya Lodge or Park view safari lodge

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth – Morning game drive – Afternoon cruise on the kazinga channel

After an early breakfast, go for a long game drive starting just in time to see game as they have their “breakfast”. This park offers variety of wildlife, be assured of a classic African safari experience, tracks through Kasenyi, the North Kazinga Plains offer virtually guaranteed buffalo, antelope and elephant sightings, Lions along with warthogs and baboons. Our experienced guide in the early morning will help you track down a pride of lions, and may be the odd leopard, come back for lunch at Parkview safari lodge and then later depart for your amazing 2 hours afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel that connects two lakes that is Lake Edward and Lake George and expect to eye watch games like game like hippos and buffaloes and elephants, crocodiles and plenty of birds to include residents and migrants on the shores of Kazinga channel. Return to the lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Day 7: Queen Elizabeth Park – Morning game drive through Ishasha Sector and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable

Today’s drive is through what is probably East Africa’s most spectacular scenery, the highland rain forests that connects to the volcanoes which happen to habitat to the giant mountain gorillas. A visit to the bat Cave close to Maramagambo forest or a glance of Kyambura gorge is a must! Overnight and diner.

Note: Today transfer is variable, according to the location of the gorilla permits and road conditions.

Day 8: Mountain gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Early in the morning you enter the rain tropical forest of Bwindi for the gorilla safari. The activity starts at 8 Am as you search for the habituated family of mountain gorillas. Bwindi forest in Uganda has a population of about 350 gorillas, which is half the world population according to 2007 gorilla population surveys. It is not predictable the time you will spend to encounter the gorillas. You have one hour for observing the primates and their behaviors, while taking photographs. Due to the nature of this activity, you take packed lunch and water with you in the bag and you might engage for this the support of available porters. Dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Transfer to Mgahinga national park

After breakfast, drive through the impenetrable forest of Bwindi, since it is a forestry area expect to see many species of primates on the way such as olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, patus monkey and many others and proceed to Mgahinga national park which is popularly known as a home for both gold and silver “where silver meets gold” and the purpose of visiting Mgahinga is to trek and experience golden monkeys but as you trek you might notice some mountain gorillas. Your will reach the park in the afternoon and go straight to the lodge to check in relax , lunch and then follow the Batwa trail for be entertained by their cultural performance and amazing stories about the giant forest of Mgahinga. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Mgahinga national park – Golden monkey trekking – Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After morning breakfast, your will be transferred to UWA information center for briefing and then start the trek at 08:00 am with the guidance of UWA ranger/ guide and after encountering the golden monkeys your will spend 2 hours with them taking photos and asking as many questions as you want, return to the lodge to have lunch and later drive to Lake Bunyonyi only to relax while cruising on the waters of Lake Bunyonyi the entire evening or Quad biking around the shores of the lake. Return to the lodge and relax with the glass of sweet wine or battle of beer dinner and an overnight.

Day 11:

Transfer from Bwindi to Kampala via Mbarara
