Day 6: Lilongwe

Early in the morning we visit the Malawi National Park before we drive back to Lilongwe, where we prepare for the next days in the bush.

Overnight in Woodlands Lodge or similar. (B/L/-)

Days 7, 8, 9 and 10: Luangwa River (South Luangwa Park)

South Luangwa NP is known for its abundance of African wildlife: Thorneycroft’s giraffe, Cookson’s Gnu, Crawshay’s Zebra, leopards, lions and big herds of buffalo and elephant.

Game drives along the Luangwa River often produce spectacular sightings. Hippo families occur in high numbers in the river, unequalled in Africa.

During the dry season (July to October), many side channels of the river dry up, leaving the fish trapped. This attracts many different species of predators, such as the African fish eagle, jackal, and hyena, to mention but a few. The colourful Carmine bee-eaters are often seen perching in front of their nests in the river banks.

Overnight in Safari Tents or Chalets in Croc Valley Camp, Marula Game Lodge or similar. (4x FB)

Day 11: Chipata

After a last game drive in the morning, we are leaving this unique park and drive out of the Luangwa valley and head on to Chipata. En route we will visit a textile factory well known for its beautiful articles with traditional patterns as well as modern design. We will stock up for the next few days on Safari in the city.

Overnight stay at the Protea Hotel in Chipata. (B/L/-)

Day 12: Lusaka

En route to Lusaka we will stop at Luangwa Bridge, a thriving market, where all kinds of baskets and mats as well as hand carved items are offered. We drive through beautiful mountainous landscape to Lusaka's capital, where we stock up for the next days in the bush.

Overnight in Chalets at a comfortable lodge close to Lusaka (B/L/-).

Day 13, 14 and 15: Lower Zambezi National Park

A visit of the Lower Zambezi Park is one of the highlights in Zambia.

The Zambezi River on the one side and the Escarpment on the other form the backdrop of our game viewing. We do game drives in the Park and boating along the river shore to watch the animals coming to drink. On one of these days we will do a sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi.

We stay overnight in safari tents in Mvuu Lodge or Chalets in Mzaku-Mbezi Lodge. (3x FB)

Day 16: Lusaka

After a last breakfast in the African bush we pack up and drive back and up the escarpment to Lusaka where we spend the afternoon at leisure in a small lodge in the vicinity of Lusaka.
