KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK Kidepo Valley National Park lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s borders with Sudan and Kenya. Gazetted as a national park in 1962, it has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species. Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated national park, albeit it’s most magnificent, for it is among Africa’s finest wildernesses. For Landscape photographers, the park offers breathtaking open savanna surrounded by spectacular mountain landscape nowhere to be seen in Africa! Kidepo was named number 3 best National Park in Africa by CNN travel channel. And as for wild life, it’s easy to see and photograph most of the big game guys in one. During the dry season, animals keep around the only permanent water in the park in the broad Narus Valley. On the cultural side, the Karimojong tribe are found in Karamoja the North-Eastern part of Uganda where Kidepo is located. MURCHISON FALLS Murchison Falls along the River Nile is the main attraction of the park from which it is named. The park lies at the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley, where the sweeping Bunyoro escarpment tumbles into vast, palm-dotted savanna. The park hosts 76 mammals and 451 bird species respectively. Murchison Falls National Park is bisected by the Victoria Nile, which plunges 45m through a narrow gorge, creating the dramatic Murchison Falls, the centerpiece of the park marking the final event in an 80km stretch of rapids. From the falls, the placid river whose banks team with wildlife flows across the rift valley floor into Lake Albert. Notable visitors to the park include Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt, Ernest Hemingway, Kanye West and wife Kim Kardashian and several British royals.
