Mikumi National Park, located at 3230 square km , between the Uluguru Mountains to the north and the Lumango Mountains to the south-east. Mikumi National Park is home to giraffe , that biologists consider the link between the Masai giraffe and the reticulated or Somali giraffe, elephants, lions, zebras, leopards, impala, eland, kudu, black antelope, baboons, wildebeests, and buffaloes. According to local guides at Mikumi, chances of seeing a lion that climbs a tree trunk is larger than in Manyara (famous for being one of the few places where the lions exhibit this behavior). At about 5 km from the north of the park, there are two artificial pools inhabited by hippos. More than 400 different species of birds also inhabit the park.

Early morning, 4 am, pick up from your Hotel / Airport or another agreed point in Dar es Salaam to start your day safari with the roughly  5-6 hour drive to Mikumi National Park. On arrival, go straight into a game drive. Short break for lunch and after lunch, continue with the game drive for more wildlife sightings explore the varied terrain of the park, which includes a floodplain, the ‘little Serengeti,’ and hippo pools where the enormous creatures wallow in thick mud. Mikumi National Park is on the northern border of Africa’s largest game reserve, the Selous, part of a sprawling wilderness area that reaches almost to the Indian Ocean. Mikumi National Park is Tanzania’s fourth-largest national park and the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. You'll have the chance to see a variety of animals, such as buffalo, giraffes, elephants, lions, pythons, zebras, leopards, and hippos. Conclude your game drive at 4 -5 pm, and return to the park entrance for the trip back to Dar Es Salaam. Finish the day with drop-off at the original departure point.
