This wonderful safari gives you the opportunity to be up close and personal with the large red elephants and expansive wilderness of Tsavo, Amboseli and Meru National Parks. You will visit some of Kenya’s least visited, most pristine parks in addition to its more popular destinations.

 

Day 1: Nairobi – Tsavo East National Park

Our driver will pick you up in Nairobi from the airport or the hotel in the early morning and then transfer you to Tsavo East National Park. You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. This lodge is set on a plateau of open grassland with giant baobab trees, giving you the true wilderness experience. Late in the afternoon you will head out on a game drive for a visit to the Lugards Falls and Mudanda Rock.

Day 2: Tsavo East National Park

Today you will have early morning and evening game drives exploring the Tsavo East wilderness. All meals will be served at the lodge. The lodge is built strategically on a hill to give clients a good view of the nearby water holes where animals come to quench their thirst.

Day 3: Tsavo East – Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast you will leave for Tsavo West. During the drive you will pass through mostly wilderness and the occasional laval flow. You’ll be staying at Ngulia lodge, which is situated overlooking its own water hole with daily visits from elephants and other plains mammals.

You will arrive in time for lunch and then be taken on a late afternoon game drive with a visit to the Mzima Springs, where you may see hippos, Nile crocodiles and many different bird species. Return to lodge for dinner and spend the remainder of the evening relaxing.

Day 4: Tsavo West – Amboseli National Park

After breakfast you will depart for Amboseli National Park, enjoying a game drive en-route. Amoseli boasts great views of the imposing Mount Kilimanjaro and has abundant wildlife, including herds of elephants, big cats and bird life – it is not a park to be missed! You’ll arrive in time for lunch at the camp and then enjoy a dip at the camp’s swimming pool. Later in the afternoon you’ll head out into the park for the evening game drive, after which you’ll return to the camp for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Day 5: Amboseli – Aberdare National Park

Today we leave Amboseli for Aberdare National Park by way of Nairobi, where you will stop and collect lunch boxes. Upon arrival you will check-in at Aberdare Country Club, where all your heavy luggage will be left as only an overnight bag is allowed at the Ark. From here you will be transferred to the Ark by one of the lodge vehicles. Enjoy game viewing at the Ark from a deck overlooking the floodlit waterholes where wildlife and birds regularly visit. Over 40 species of wildlife inhabit the Aberdares mountain ranges, hiding in the heavily forested slopes and in the upper moorlands. Aberdares National Park is noted as a rhino sanctuary, but keep an eye out for the elusive rare bongo as well, which is best spotted in the upper bamboo zone and hypericum scrub.

Day 6: Aberdare – Meru National Park

After breakfast you will be transferred to Aberdare Country Club, where your driver will be waiting. Pick-up your luggage and then leave for Meru National Park. Meru is a classic savannah wilderness with a diversity of habitats including semi-arid, riverine, forest, swamplands and grasslands. You’ll arrive in time for lunch at Ikweta Safari Camp. Each tent here has an en suite bathroom and private veranda. There is a real focus on affordable comfort as well, with all meals cooked to order!

After lunch you will head into Meru for a game drive. There are some fantastic game viewing opportunities here including cheetah, Grevy’s zebra, gerenuk, the distinctive reticulated giraffe and the “big five”. You’ll spend the rest of the day exploring Meru with its great views of Mount Kenya, savannah wilderness, riverine habitats and prominent inselbergs – including Mughwango and Leopard Rock.

Day 7: Meru National Park

Today you will rise with the sun for an early morning game drive. Return to the camp for breakfast and then spend the rest of the morning at your leisure enjoying the camp facilities as you wait for lunch. Later in the afternoon you will depart on an evening game drive. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.

Day 8: Meru – Ol Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast you will check out and leave for Sweet Water’s Tented Camp, which is located in the secluded heart of the Ol Pejeta Ranch and rhino sanctuary. You will arrive in time for lunch.

Sweet Water’s is a private ranch that supports a large number of game, including elephants and giraffe. In the afternoon you will visit the rhino and chimpanzee sanctuary and then go on an afternoon game drive. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the camp.

Day 9: Ol Pejeta – Nairobi

Check-out after an early breakfast and then enjoy one last game drive before departing for Nairobi. You will arrive around lunch time, at which point you can opt to have lunch (cost not included) at the restaurant of your choice. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
